To my very big surprise this movie is directed by Tetsuya Nakashima (the director of Kamikaze girls). But don't expect any frills. This is a psychological thriller, close to horror that really messes with your mind.

A grieving school teacher decides to get revenge on the students that murdered her young daughter. It's dark, it's horrible, it's disturbing, but most of all it's brilliant. This movie shows the effects of psychology and manipulation in a way that's almost grotesque. How one little sentence can start a chain reaction so big it changes every persons life forever.

Confessions is a serie of confessions, by every involved person who each add a piece to the puzzle. At first glance you know who to feel sorry for and who to hate, but as the story develops the line gets blurry and in the end it's hard to tell who's evil and who's the victim.

The acting was so convincing for a moment I actually doubted it was a Japanese production I was watching. In fact my chin hit the table, it was that amazing. And the filming was just the way I love it with effective slow motion scenes and a magical way of lighting them.

For the second time in a my life an Indian production have crossed my path and completely blown me away! Comedy is usually not my first choice of genre, but I decided to try something new to expand my horizon.

Two friends leaves for a quest to find their old friend Rancho from they days when they were engineer students. On this journey they encounter a long forgotten bet, a wedding they must crash and a funeral they goes out of control. As they make their way through the landscape another journey begins: their inner journey through memories where we get to know the very unique free thinker Rancho who touch their lives and changed them all.

This movie is so insightful it's brilliant! It really touched me! The life of a engineer student is far from easy but these colorful characters struggle through it with every creative idea they get, and for that I admire them so.

So I got the idea for this outfit just before christmas and that's the reason why I ordered the cossack hat! :) I suspected it would really complete this outfit! And it did! ^^ The cossack hat and the red colors really gave me some Russian feeling and I spend my day in "Cartman-mode" quoting Cartman's "Red Russian" expressions to the point that my sister went nuts ^^

There are no political messages in this outfit! I'm always a little afraid when I tie a ribbon around my arm (I've done it before), because the ribbon is a strong symbol, unfortunately I never payed much attention during the history class in school, so I don't have any idea what signals I might give with this outfit. But I assure you, there are no political messages in this outfit. I just like to play with colors and repeat colors and patterns.

Today I'm learning a Chinese photo edit program called Meitu (mei tu means pretty picture in chinese) :) It's really great! The only downside is that I don't read Chinese! But navigation isn't too hard thanks to icons, so you'll mange :) If you like purikura with circle lenses and false lashes you're gonna love this ^^ ( I myself like it kinda retro, haha)

My new year started of absolutely magical! I have heard of the Asian tradition to release lanterns to the sky, but I have never seen it, or even heart that the west would have adapted the tradition these last couple of years. So it was a great surprise to me when all of a sudden the colorful fireworks had company by 50 beautiful lanterns!

2011 reflections

So the new year is just around the corner. Time for reflection.

2011 have been a very eventful year for me. I can hardly belive I've actually lived in five different places this year! 2011 has been the year that completely changed me and also the year where I found a true happiness I haven't felt since I was 15 years old. The time in Germany was without any doubt the most amazing experience I have ever gained in my life.

My favorite movie this year has been Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. I discovered I absolutely love Mexican food and I have all of a sudden learned to eat boiled veggies. For the first time in my life I started to enjoy cooking, and for the first time in many years I actually read a book (not only one, seven! the Harry Potter series). The most scariest experience was when I drove a cart for the first time (not the rent type, but the real deal). I was scared to death, but I did it! Some goals I managed to reach this year was to live abroad, watch all 50 Disney classics and complete my boyfriends Don Rosa collection (I've been collecting these books for him for years, and I finally got the last book!).

This year has been poor in my wallet, but very eventful with so many experiences instead. I learned to get over my need for materialistic items and replace it with experiences. My saddest moments was when I left Germany and when my camera broke. However my 25th birthday was unusually lucky and I received a new camera and also a new cellphone (among many great items) which I was in great need of and I'm still thankful every day for these items.

I didn't wear lolita as frequent as previous years, but I can still pick 7 favorite outfits from the year. Compared to 2010 while my style still had a lot of sweet in it, my style 2001 mainly consisted of classic and country.

Yesterday I found wild mistletoe! I had no ideas these grew in Sweden!

I turned out that mistletoe are only located in the area around the lake Mälaren (by Stockholm). And I realized I have seen these before when I lived in another city close by. I always saw them from the bus, and I could never figure out what it was, because they were too far up in the tree for me to identify it by the leaf and berries (and I for that matter had no idea that a mistletoe grows like a little local ball in a tree).

I was very skeptic about this movie when I first heard about it. Two famous singers in the leading roles, that couldn't possibly be a success?! I was sure this was only a movie for the Hyde and Gackt fans. Famous names on the cover but no good acting or well developed story. Boy, I was wrong!

The story is set in the future, not very distant from today. Japans economy has collapsed and people immigrate to other parts of Asia. Mallepa is the place where japanese, hongkongers and taiwanese live together and fend for themselves in a shattered criminal world.

Sho is young orphan who together with his brother and friends tries to make a living. Soon the vampire Kei cross their path and it's the beginning of a life long friendship.

What amazed me the most about this movie was the fact that it's a vampire movie but the focus is not on the vampire thing. He's a friend of Sho who doesn't age, and his blood sucking behavior is more of a footnote in the story. The story is about friendship and about growing up rather than the life of a vampire.

I find the movie to be well done. The acting isn't top class, but it's good enough. The fighting scenes are impressive and the directing is great. I'm go glad I finally decided to watch this movie!

I think the trailer spoil the story, but oh well. It's the only good trailer there is.

December 1st is a special day! It's it's time for the traditional Christmas calendar! :)

This year bf and I are watching Tomtemaskinen on DVD (one episode each day until Christmas). Which is an awesome live action of Pettson and Findus from 1993 that completed our childhood and still today is absolutely magic :)

I was recently surprised to find out several of my readers from different countries were familiar with my Swedish childhood characters :) Most people know them by the books written by Sven Nordqvist. This calender is however not based on a previous book as far as I know :)

Last week I watched this amazing production from France. And I was so glad to see that the director of this movie is a woman! So rare!

The story is about Paloma. She's 11 years old and live with her mom, dad and older sister in a big luxury apartment. This is quite an ordinary family, with adults who are always busy and a child who quietly observes their behaviors from a distance.

Paloma is not just an ordinary girl. She's very intellectual and she reflects deeply on what she sees. She find her family to be tragic and she fear most of all to grow up and become just like them. She think the world is very shallow, without beauty, without intellect, and she finds all the adults to be unreal and untrue to themselves and everyone else. This drives Paloma to take a very important decision - she will kill herself on her 12th birthday. It's still 165 days left to her birthday and she use the last days of her life to make a movie.

In the house where Paloma lives there are other apartments as well. On the bottom floor lives the janitor. An old, poor, widow whose passion is chocolate, cats and books. She's not easy to make a connection with because of her hard bitter attitude, but Paloma sees right though the old lady's self defense mechanism. She compares the janitor with a hedgehog with all the sharp spikes on the outside, but a soft inside.

A new person is also moving in, in the building. Kakuro Ozu is a handsome, wealthy, Japanese man whose home has the traditional Japanese interior. Paloma meet him in the elevator and speak a little Japanese with him.

These three persons are the main characters in this movie. They're all so different, but you'll care for them all. I just love how the story develops as these characters gets to know each other.

This movie is so beautiful in so many ways. If you haven't watched it yet, you have really missed out something.

The story is about a man who breaks into peoples houses when they're not home. He use their homes to live a normal life like cooing food for himself, shower and sleep. If he finds a broken gadget he fix it for the owner and he makes their laundry and clean before he leaves to find a new place to stay for a day or two. It's a crime, but you won't find him to be a criminal type.

The story evolves when he accidentally breaks into a house with a woman hidden inside it. She's hiding from her husband who beats her. Her husband is currently not at home. The guy feel so sorry for her he don't want to leave her, and when her husband returns he decide to bring her with him. His life do not change much with a companion by his side. He still continues his daily routines looking for a empty home to borrow.

This movie hardly contain any dialogue at all. It has a slow pace without becoming boring. Because each house they enter is a new life that belongs to someone else and you never know what you might find.

I found this movie to be extremely interesting, I do have a weak spot for how other people live like! And the ending was so enchanting.
